CapMark Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 5, 2026
CapMark is a screenshot and annotation app for Mac, provided by shun feng ("we"). We don't run servers for CapMark, and we don't require an account.
What stays on your Mac
- Screenshots and annotations. They are saved only where you choose, or copied to your clipboard.
- Text recognition (OCR), which runs on your Mac using macOS.
- Your settings, the API keys and request headers you enter, and the Doubao sign-in data if you sign in. They are stored in the app's local storage and are not sent to us.
We don't collect analytics, don't track you, and don't show ads.
What leaves your Mac
Translation. CapMark is a translation client. When you translate, the recognized text is sent directly from your Mac to the service selected in the app, and that service processes it under its own privacy policy. CapMark asks for your consent the first time you use each service. Don't translate text you don't want to share with that service.
Services available in the app: Google Translate, Google web translation, Microsoft Translator, Bing Translator, Yandex Translate, Doubao, and any AI model service you configure yourself (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, Groq, Mistral, xAI, DeepSeek, Alibaba Cloud, Volcano Engine, Moonshot, Zhipu, SiliconFlow, Bilibili Index-Translate, or a local model on your own Mac). The API key or sign-in you provide for a service is sent only to that service.
Purchases. CapMark Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment and tells the app whether you own the purchase. We don't receive your payment details.
Links you open. Buttons such as "Get API Key" open the provider's website in your browser.
Permissions
- Screen Recording: to capture your screen. Captures are processed on your Mac.
- Input Monitoring: to detect when you hold the Screen Pen trigger key. CapMark checks modifier keys only, and doesn't record or send what you type.
Your choices
You can stop using any translation service, remove your API keys in Preferences, sign out of Doubao, and revoke permissions in System Settings. Deleting the app and its data removes what it stores on your Mac. Because we don't hold your data, there's nothing for us to delete; for text you sent to a translation service, contact that service.
This website
The CapMark website uses no analytics, ads or tracking cookies. Like most web servers, ours keeps standard access logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
Children
CapMark isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We'll update this page when this policy changes, and revise the effective date above.
